Co-Founder of Soul of Rwanda

I co-founded Soul of Rwanda alongside my brother Senga Jean Baptiste in 2015 because I saw so many children suffering from poverty. They had to beg on the streets for food, never knowing if they would go to bed with full stomachs. I wanted to give them a sense of security and hope for a better future.

Having grown up in poverty myself, I became a street kid at the age of twelve. I eventually made friends with other children living on the streets, and together, we found solace in gymnastics. We would watch kung fu movies at the cinema and then head to the beach to practice what we saw. Over time, we developed advanced acrobatic skills.

When I started Soul of Rwanda, my goal was to help other vulnerable children who had no choice but to live on the streets. Many spent their days in the market, trying to survive. One day, as I passed through on my way to train at the beach, I met thirty-three children who were staying there. I invited them to join me in training, and they did—but after practice, they asked me how they would find food. I had nothing to give them, and it broke my heart.

Still, I refused to give up. I believed that acrobatics could change their lives, helping them develop skills that could turn them into future artists. As more and more vulnerable children joined us, we became a family.

This journey has not been easy, but my mother always taught me that my purpose in life is to help those in need. She raised me to walk for the disabled, see for the blind, hear for the deaf, and work tirelessly to support orphans in Rwanda. She told me that if I dedicate myself to this mission, the blessings and rewards of my labor will always stay with me.

Soul of Rwanda is a nonprofit organization dedicated to caring for vulnerable people, with a special focus on orphaned children, street children, and individuals with disabilities.
